“I want everything to be in harmony,” says Attuned Dental Care owner
Kim Luu, D.D.S. The very name of Luu’s practice connotes the harmony he
hopes to bring to dentistry. Rather than just cleaning a patient’s teeth
when they come in, Luu gives well-rounded care for overall well being and good
health. “I really look at a person from start to finish. I don’t just
focus on one tiny little thing. I like to look at the health of the tissue, the
teeth, and the surrounding tissue. A lot of clinic types don’t have the
time to do that,” says Luu.
A family-oriented practice, Attuned Dental Care receives a lot of referrals because
patients appreciate Luu’s dedication to total dental care. Because Attuned
is a private practice, not a clinic, Luu personally performs all procedures and
sometimes works with specialists to give his patients the best care needed. “When
I see a patient, I really listen to them and see what they want to get out of
their dental treatment,” he says.
Luu also works well with nervous or fearful patients, whether children or adults.
In his senior year as a dental student in the hygiene program at the University
of Southern California, Luu volunteered for the Mobile Clinic, a program that
gives free dentistry to children. Luu also applies the knowledge he’s gathered
from practicing dental care since 2002 to his own practice, and doesn’t
jump into using the newest technology. “Sometimes it’s good to take
a step back and see what really works,” he says. Luu researches the technology
first, making sure that it is clinically proven before he uses it on a patient.
To address individual patient needs, Luu offers everything from general hygiene,
like teeth cleaning and checkups, to cosmetic dentistry. Attuned Dental Care also
offers payment plans, accepts most forms of insurance, and lowers fees for patients
